The jins

While building off the ‘90s-crushed guitar rock of The Jin’s Death Wish EP (2019), with a bit more room to breathe on the upcoming, 10-song It’s a Life—recorded in Vancouver with producer Dave Genn (54-40)— the trio also detour through cello-emboldened fields of Americana (“Clementine”), gloom-laden proto-psych (“Jin Sabbath”) and life-contemplating alt-ballads (“Crossroads”). With a new album now on the horizon, The Jins are planning to tour for the first time since Death Wish’s “She Said” unexpectedly took off on TikTok and brought the band to an even bigger streaming audience (the song is 7.5 million and counting on Spotify). The Jins are Ben Larsen (vocals, guitar), Hudson Partridge (bass) and Jamie Warnock (drums, vocals).

vox rea

Vox Rea features Kate Kurdyak (lead vocals/piano/guitar/violin) and Lauren Kurdyak (vocals/piano/percussion). The two sisters released their debut album, To Bring You My Heart, on 604 Records in 2017 under the name “The Katherines.” The album garnered over a million spins on Spotify with songs featured on playlists including New Music Friday, Pop All Day, Hot Hits Canada, Indie Pop Chillout and the Canada Viral 50 chart. Their songs were also featured  on TV shows Orphan Black, Reboot, and The Order. The album attracted media attention from Vice, MTV, the Vancouver Sun and the National Post. The band also performed on morning shows in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver.
